London Celebrates Canada
London Celebrates Canada presents its sixth Canada Day celebration at Harris Park, July 1st, 2015. Free admission to the public, this will be a day filled with an exciting lineup of entertainment and fun!
Celebration opens at noon with the First Nations’ gathering, followed by the National Anthem performed by #WePlayOn orchestra, the official Canada Day cutting of the Canada Flag cake, courtesy of Loblaw Great Food and a tree planting ceremony. Our very own Ms. Tamara Chapman will be the Master of Ceremonies with stage performances starting at 3pm including: Glenn Bennett– A children’s performer, known for his bright, catchy lyrics and upbeat pop arrangements. Greek dancers will follow, and local Sarina Haggarty will perform at 5pm, with the Dan Howler Band at 6pm. Rise 2 Fame Youth Talent Search presented by Western Fair District performs at 7pm featuring Avery Raquel. Our headliner Cheryl Lescom, who has been part of the Canadian music scene for over 35 years and has toured and performed with the likes of Jeff Healey, Matt Minglewood, Dutch Mason, the Downchild Blues Band, Jack DeKeyser, Del Shannon, David Wilcox, Mel Brown, Paul James, Billy Durst and The Detroit Women, takes the stage at 8:30pm, topped off by Spectacular Fireworks at 10pm.
Other activities include food vendors featuring Kin Canada’s annual Canada Day BBQ; community and cultural exhibits, along with London Children’s Museum activity for the kids, and a special salute to Canada’s Heroes.
Please note that the Queens and Riverside bridges are closed to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic from 9pm until 11pm to ensure a safe exhibition.
